Privacy policy

Last updated: September 2026

Sidsmail is a program that runs on your computer. This policy is short because the answer to almost every question is the same: we collect nothing.

What Sidsmail does with your data

Sidsmail connects directly to the servers of the email accounts you set up (IMAP to receive, SMTP to send), using the credentials you give it. Messages, contacts and settings are stored only on your computer, in the %APPDATA%\Sidsmail folder. There is no Sidsmail server in between, no Sidsmail account, and no copy of your data anywhere outside your computer.

What we don't do

Internet connections Sidsmail makes

This website

sidsmail.com is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages, with no cookies. GitHub may log technical access data (such as IP addresses) under the GitHub privacy statement.

The public counters ("In numbers") use GoatCounter, a cookie-free analytics tool that identifies no one: it records the page visited, the country and the browser type, nothing else. The download count comes from GitHub's public API.

On the "Support" page, donations are processed by Stripe: payment details are entered on and handled by Stripe, and Sidsmail never sees or stores them. Stripe's script is loaded on that page only.

Your rights

Since we keep no data of yours, there is nothing we could hand over or delete on our side. On your computer, "Export local data" and "Erase local data", in Settings → Security & data, do exactly what they say.
